I chose this topic because I thought this was an interesting topic and I thought I could think of ideas to prevent nuclear waste leakage spills.
Nuclear Waste
By Isaac Guessous
INTRODUCTION
Imagine you're walking along a beautiful beach. But when you cut a corner, you see a factory producing a glowing, green liquid. Then you see a manager walk out of the building. You ask the manager what the building is producing.”Nuclear Waste” he says. Nuclear waste is a radioactive power supply. So now I guess I tell you about it or something. I don’t know. Anyway, see you in the next paragraph!
CAUSES
Welcome to paragraph two! The first cause is that industries produce lots of nuclear waste. Nuclear power plants produce an average of 20 metric tons a year! The second (and the last) cause is radiation can enter the ocean food chain. Well, that's all of them. Bye bye!
EFFECTS
Welcome to paragraph three! The first effect is that lots of nuclear waste is dumped into the ocean. This happens when a nuclear power plant gets hit by an earthquake or something similar to that. The second (and the last) effect is that is we eat animals at the top of the ocean food chain. This happens when radiation reaches the top of the ocean food chain. Well, you’ve heard then all. Goodbye until the next paragraph!
PROBLEMS & SOLUTION
Welcome to paragraph four! The first problem is that invisible radiation can travel miles and miles to get to different countries. The second (and the last) problem is that on March eleventh, 2011 an earthquake and tsunami hit japan, so a power plant released thousands of tons of nuclear waste into the ocean. This meant that most sea animals had to go to animal protection place. But the animal that got affected the worse was shorebirds on islands in the Pacific (especially seagulls). My solution is to build a dome around nuclear power plants to prevent nuclear power plants from releasing nuclear waste into rivers, lakes, seas, reservoirs, and oceans. That's it! See you in awhile!
HISTORY OF NUCLEAR WASTE
Welcome to paragraph five! Nuclear waste has been a problem for a long time. It all started in 1950, when electric companies started to use nuclear waste as energy, but people ended up using all of it by 1957. Now it's time to learn about nuclear bomb history. Only two have been set off in history, so there's not much to say. The first nuclear bomb explosion was in new mexico, 1945, July 16, when the united states was testing out its first nuclear bomb. Not three weeks later the world changed. The second ( and last ) nuclear bomb explosion was in 1945, August 6. The United States dropped an atomic bomb in Hiroshima, a city in Japan. Over 13,000 people were injured or killed. :( Ok, well, I think this is it!
MYTHS & REALITIES
Welcome to the paragraph six! The first myth is that industries don’t really have a solution to the “waste” problem, while they kind of do. The second (and the last) myth is that plutonium is the most dangerous thing. It isn’t. Nuclear waste is (even though plutonium is a radioactive element). Well, this is it. Bye!
OTHER INTERESTING FACTS
Welcome to paragraph seven!. Ok, so the first fact is that all radiation travels in invisible rays. The second one is that some radiation is more poisonous than others. The third fact (and the last) is that some radiation can’t even pass through a piece of paper, while other radiation can travel through a piece of solid metal!Ok, ok, that's it. See you in the next paragraph!
CONCLUSION
Welcome to the conclusion! I know this has been a funny eight paragraphs (well, this is the eighth paragraph). But this stuff is serious, and you did learn about why nuclear waste is bad. But seriously, nuclear waste is bad, and try to do whatever you can to stay away from nuclear waste. Well, bye!
