I chose mining activities because I really like mining and I want how mining pollutes water.
Water pollution: Mining pollution
By: Quinn
Introduction
Mining is the process of crushing the rock and extracting coal and other minerals from underground. This extraction produces harmful chemicals and can increase the amount of toxic elements when mixed up with water which may result in health problems. Mining activities emit (give off) several metal waste and sulphides from the rocks and is harmful for the water.
Causes
Surface mining can affect groundwater quality and drinking water. If you live near a mining site it can poison humans and animals. Mines are often in forests, mountains , deserts , lakes and , oceans.
Problems
Did you know if you mine, it salts the ocean and when you swim near a mining location you’ll get sick. So don’t go mining for good’s that much. Mining can increase the amount of salts in the water. If you drink it you might be in the hospital for weeks and have health problems or even die.
Effects
So don’t mine as much just for goods or then we won't have as drinking much water so don't mine. But you can mine sometimes just not a lot . If you mine to much there will be toxic waste in the air. There are strong laws about mining all though many places don’t have have those laws so pollution spreads.
In northern Minnesota there’s a wonderful fairyland called boundary waters border between the u.s and canada. There are laws and strict rules about people in places there not supposed to be. People like fishing, swimming, capping, skiing, hiking and more fun stuff there for people to do. Mining destroys habitats homes for living creatures including us if they are near a mining site.
Solutions
To not mine as much as we want and do it for certain things like building schools building cars school buses and much more. Remember not to pollute at all. Don’t mine near animal habitats.
Conclusion
Well you can mine but not near animal habitats and don’t do it often. Or else more water pollution caused by mining.
THE END!!
