Isabella Martinelli - Septic Tanks and Sewage
Introducion
What are septic tanks? What is sewage? What is a septic a tank? A septic tank is a machine that takes all the grey water and brakes up all of sewage that is in the toilet. Did you know that the sewage and wastewater that is produced by each household is chemically treated and released into sea with fresh water? The sewage water carries harmful bacteria and chemicals that can cause serious health problems. Pathogens are known as a common water pollutant; The sewers of cities have several pathogens and thereby diseases. Microorganisms in water are known to be causes of some very deadly diseases and become the breeding grounds for other creatures that act like carriers. These carriers inflict these diseases by various forms of contact onto an individual. A very common example of this would be Malaria.
Septic Sewage
Did you know that sewage is a term used for wastewater that often contains feces, urine and laundry waste.Sewage is one of the causes of water pollution. Everybody’s home toilet is connected to a septic tank usually located outside of the house. Each time you poop it is flushed down the toilet, it goes to the tank. Sewage is mainly biodegradable and most of it is broken down in the environment. Untreated sewage water in such areas can contaminate the environment and causes diseases such as diarrhoea. Sewage in developed countries is carried away from the home quickly and hygienically through sewage pipes.
Causes
Now I am going to tell you about what causes pollution from septic tanks and sewage. Raw sewage overflow causes septic sewage pollution. Now I am going to tell you how raw sewage overflows happen. Sometime strom water causes raw sewage overflow.
Problems
Now I am going to tell you about the problems that septic sewage has raw sewage overflows. Diseases is another type of problems for septic sewage. Diseases are very bad they are bad because you can die from the diseases that septic sewage can have. The name of the disease is diarrhoea. Raw overflow is sewage that is raw and and it flows out of the tanks. That is what raw overflow is.
Solution
Now I am going to tell you some about some possible solutions. Here is one solution for septic sewage. There needs to be a more advanced engineering cleaning process. Also regular maintenance including replacement and repairing of leaking and faulty sewage processing infrastructure. Domestic household septic tanks should include pretreatment of the waste water before it infiltrates into the soil.

Did you know that almost 70% of Earth’s surface is covered with water. That 70% of water is in lakes, rivers, streams, marshes, oceans, even in puddles and morning dew. Every one of these water sources are connected to one well. Only 3% is fresh. But only 1% of the 3% is drinkable. Drinkable means you can not drink the water are anything. There is 97.23% of water that is in the oceans. There is 2.14% of water that is in the icecaps and glaciers. There is 0.61% of water that is in the groundwater. There is 0.009% of water that is in freshwater lakes. There is 0.008% of water that is in inland saltwater seas. There is 0.005% of water that is in moisture in the soil. There is 0.001% of water that is in water in the atmosphere. There is 0.0001% of water that is in rivers. Did you know that all water is connected. Did you know that North America uses 55 buckets of water. Every bucket means 10 L. Russia uses 27 ½ buckets of water. Poland uses 14 buckets of water. India uses 7 buckets of water. Nepal uses 3 buckets of water. Haiti uses 1 ½ buckets of water. Ethiopia uses 1 bucket of water. There is one well and that if you pollute the well then you pollute all of the water sources. That isn’t good because all of the people that do not have fresh water in there house then they would drink bad water. Every time we get more people that means more space. And that means more water gets drankted or more water gets used for bathing. Our water stays the same it does not change every year. I have a lot of information from one well.
